Thoughts from the Weird and Quirky Mind of Karen Kramer

Thoughts from the Weird and Quirky Mind of Karen Kramer

parentingtipsthebrain1I realize that my brain is not normal and most people don’t think the way I do, we can all Thank God for that!

Proof that my brain is either broken or defective came a few weeks ago, when I did the “Right Brain, Left Brain” test. You know the one with the naked girl (oops maybe I should say unclothed girl so the Google Spiders don’t think I’m promoting something that starts with P and rhymes with horn) that spins clockwise or counter-clockwise. Clockwise means you’re a right brained artsy fartsy type, anti-clockwise means you’re a freakin scientist.

My results … first the nakey ballerina spun clockwise claiming that I’m an artsy type, but since I failed Home Economics three times, have never done a craft project and think that brown is a perfectly acceptable color my right brain quickly went into cardiac arrest and forced the left brain to take over…. sleazy girl reversed direction an started her anti-clockwise spin.

Now the scientist in me rejoiced that maybe I might actually acquire “Geek” status but that came to a screeching halt when I remembered my failed attempts to learn basic algebra. The spinning tramp did another about face and started her clockwise spin. My conclusion…. both sides of my brain refuse to claim my mind leaving me as neither Right Brained or Left Brained. Don’t they know a “mind is a terrible thing to waste”.

I have Brent Hodgson of Noble Samurai to Thank for my latest proof that my mind is either broken or just plain weird. Brent recently sent out the following annoying cryptic Twitter message..

“What Myers-Briggs type are you? I’m an ENFP”.

Of course I wanted to find out what type I was, so off to Google to find out out who Myers-Briggs were and why they were claiming Brent had ENFP.

It seems the Myers-Briggs dudes are into classifying personalities via a secret coded system. And of course, just as my Mother always suspected, I’m one of only 10% of the population that’s an INFP. Something about being a Introverted Healer and having feelings. My guess is it’s the result of being a Mommy and the fact that I’ve become a Hillbilly Hermit in Alabama.

What does a no-brained, introverted, feeling hillbilly hermit think about all day? Apparently, nothing productive. Todays deep thoughts have included the following:

  1. Why do we water the grass to make it grow and then spend hours cutting it?
  2. If you don’t like the grass a lovely shade of brown…Why not just spray paint it green,or blue maybe?
  3. If Paypal can take money from your checking account instantly, why can’t they put it back instantly?
  4. Why do people say Yes when they mean NO?
  5. If Gates is a genius and Microsoft one of the top companies in the world, Why does Internet Explorer suck so bad?
  6. How come my son, who is so terrified of heights he won’t go on a ferris wheel, can think nothing of flying a single engine plane with a door that keeps flapping open?
  7. Why does crying make snot come out my nose? Same thing happens when I laugh..
  8. Why does “FREE” cost so much?
  9. Why don’t more people just turn the TV off, instead of bitchin about what’s on?
  10. And the biggest question on my mind….. What would possess someone to go on American Idol? Don’t they have a mother somewhere screaming “For the Love of God, CHILD …you can’t sing worth peanuts, please don’t embarrass us before millions of people!!!!”

And here’s a final question on my mind. WHAT DO NORMAL PEOPLE THINK ABOUT ALL DAY?

Love to see there is another someone like me in the world. Like you I’m another that had the model spin both ways & couldn’t understand the majority that insisted it only spun one way for them. Haven’t yet tried the Myers-Briggs test but it should be interesting!

    Cheers :-)

OMG, Karen – you are SO hilarious!!! Maybe I think you’re so funny because I’m an INFJ, so we’re only one Myers-Briggs letter apart – hehe. If you keep up these silly posts, I’m going to have to come back again ;-)

I did this test in 1990 and again in 1995 and though I know the test showed a change from extrovert to introvert, I also know I was lying to make myself look popular the first time round. The other categories stayed the same. Wish I could remember what they were, or where I left the documentation…what type of person does that!

As an INTP myself I have answers for your your first 10 questions but don’t deem them important enough to take the time to answer right now.
As for your final question “WHAT DO NORMAL PEOPLE THINK ABOUT ALL DAY?” I do not feel qualified to answer.
With regards to your right brain/ left brain results, it seems that you may be one of these (new buzz word) “whole brain” thinkers.
This might explain why such a test would leave your head spinning.
Looking forward to more of your deep thoughts in future posts.

Karen I totally love reading you, It is always hard for me to get into reading what some people write. I myself am trying to work on writhing skills. Seems like a lot of work and I’m never satisfied with what I write.

    Anyway I am INTJ
    Introverted
    Intuitive
    Thinking
    Judging

I can say this test is darn close to right on. Well I think it is time to get off here and be by myself some more. Don’t worry when judging you my thoughts will stay at home being an introvert and all.
