No More February Droops for me..
Every year starts the same… High hopes, new resolutions, new goals and new expectations but then somewhere around Valentine’s Day The Droops set in.
You know what I mean… you’ve forgotten the resolutions, the goals got bogged down in work, you’ve lowered your expectations and hope seems to have taken a flying leap off the curb in front of a bus.
To combat the Droops, this year I decided not to make any resolutions or set any goals. Ah, The Freedom!
But wait… not so fast.
Instead of writing out goals and resolutions, I made my own Motivation Movie.
Well, actually I made two, because I couldn’t decide which song I liked best and whether I wanted a Lifescribe pen or a Cessna 172 airplane. I’m thinking the Cessna would be a bit better than the fancy smancy pen.
What I’ve learned from this:
- My motivation movie really helps keep me focused on why I do what I do
- My motivation movie has a wonderful calming effect and keeps me from using words unbecoming of a “nice geek girl”.
- My motivation movie is about way more than the work I do… It’s more about the person I want to become.
- I still can’t decide which one I like best…
Making your own Motivation movie is super simple… all you need is:
- Pictures that represent your hopes, dreams, goals or ideals
- Some personal quotes or small text that will help you verbalize those dreams
- Animoto – They will provide a whole library of music to choose from and set your pictures and text to the music.
Let me know which one of these you think is best..

Hi Karen -
Great post! I like the first Animoto video because it feels more upbeat – a wonderful outlook for 2009!

I like the song in the 2nd one where she says “Say it’s alright, to have this moment and make it mine” “Say you believe in everything I’ve ever wanted…”
I think that is a reminder to give yourself permission to have it, to be happy, to do it for yourself. You have to believe in yourself worth! You DO deserve great things!
Ok, I won’t go all Dr.Phil on you. LOL!
