Why having your sites hacked can be a good thing…
Why having your sites hacked can be a good thing…
No I didn’t enjoy spending my entire holiday weekend trying to repair the damage to this blog and two other niche blogs. And no, I’m not happy about losing content or the affiliate income that was stolen from these blogs.
But I did learn some valuable lessons:
- Even though upgrading to latest version of Wordpress can at times be risky (not as risky as a Windows update however), it’s wise.
- Using a complex theme may look good, but is it really worth the extra time and effort … in my case… NOPE.
- As my friend Vince says “You’ve got too many crappy blogs”. Just trying to upgrade 150+ blogs is way too time-consuming. Time to trim the stable.
- I spend way too much time having fun online and not enough time on things that actually make me money. This blog in particular was full of major time-wasters.
- I need to simplify everything..
- I can’t do it all…
- It’s time to pick a niche, pick a style, pick a way of doing business and stick to it.
- As much as I’m not a techie kind of girl, I need to learn more about the techie side so that I can at least communicate with technical support.
- Always backup, Check your money links often and change your passwords monthly.
- There is a lesson in every trial.
Now that I’ve learned these lessons, it’s time to put them into action.
- As you can see, I’ve already simplified the theme of this blog.
- I’m putting a number of blogs up for sale on Flippa.com
- I’ve set a goal of creating $100 a day in “money buttons” (I’ll write a separate post on this soon)
- I’m adding automated backups on all the blogs I’m keeping.
- The next few months I will be focusing my creative energy on creating products.
- Less time on Twitter, more time on Camtasia.
- Trimming down the noise and clutter… Cleaning out my Google reader, canceling email subscriptions and limiting my Mentors. Too many voices pulling me in too many different directions just leaves me in pieces.
- But, first things first … and that means taking the time to actually forgive the Hacker, let go of the hostile feelings and then move on….
Time to get busy… Blessings all

OMGosh,
We are so similar on so many fronts.
I too have actually had several sites hacked.
It gets exhausting.
However, not giving up until I have all the sites optimized, so that
I too can sell them.
So kudos to you, again
See you on the flip(pa) side !
