Sorry Ed Dale… I should have Listened
You have never steered me wrong in the past.
I thought I knew better.
I was afraid of others calling me names or getting mad at me.
I was wrong…. You were RIGHT.
Now here I am desperately trying to follow 1006 people on Twitter, while 1144 try to follow me back.
Meanwhile, I’m living with a dark secret. By using Tweetdeck, I am actually blocking 1044 of those followers. I never see any of their tweets. Oh the shame of it. I am a true Twitter Snob but what’s worse is… I pretend to be so nice and caring…Hypocrite!
The worst is when Tweetdeck fails me from the overload. Suddenly, I’m left trying to drown out the deafening noise of 1144 people talking at me all at once. I try to find familiar voices amongst the noise but alas, they flash by too fast.
I know some of the other Guru’s will say I have been wise and built a nice little list of hungry targeted prospects, and that I can join their club of pretend Non-TwitterSnobs but they are wrong. You were RIGHT.
I know in my heart that most of these fair weather followers will unfollow me the minute I unfollow them and that a good portion of them are using Tweetdeck to screen out my tweets anyway. It’s all so fake.
So here’s what I’m going to do to fix this.
- Ask for your forgiveness… I will not doubt you again *smiles sweetly*
- Follow your example and politely say goodbye to those that I don’t honestly follow… No more dark secrets.
- Treat those that do follow me with respect and be available to answer their @replies
- Stop following Guru’s just because of their “Guru Status” and only follow those that add something of value to my day.
So once again… I’m Sorry … I was wrong
Karen

I am so ashamed of you!
Had I known that you do not even pay attention I would have talked about you more. Guess I can do that once you stop following me.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Ed doesn’t lash you with your own whip. He should also decrown you!(I would have said deflower but, pretty sure that happened to you years ago)
I will not bash you because I have my group on Tweetdeck with a set group of people & then I filter my everyone column & only get links.
I am a bit confused though. When is it that you are nice? Or by saying you pretend, it is just in your mind?
Best of luck on your defollowing!
It was nice tweeting with you. Oh, just because you unfollow me – I still know where you blog!mmmwwwaaaa!

Oh no Karen ~ incurring the wrath of Ed Dale!
And wow, how long did it take you to acquire that many followees & followers? I cannot imagine that many tweets flying at me…and all that time filtering them out in Tweetdeck.
Just look at how much time you’ll free up to move forward with all of the plans for great success in 2009! Remember…that was the goal
Congratulations on joining the ranks of those who keep their followees & followers to a manageable number of people that add quality to your Twitter life.

And here’s the fakest part of all – it takes me 2 days to get that many followers…. you have been building your list over months and months, and they hold zero value…
I follow you, and I read your tweets. You follow me, and you read my tweets. You and me, we are not fake.
Much love
Vince

The really funny thing is if something like tweetdeck, by blocking certain people from being able to talk to others, brings down the entire social networking site through a rusting away of the inner foundations. What do I mean? Well if I read that right, it would mean that anyone owning a product for sale could sell it on but people just wanting to chat could be blocked from seeing certain information?
Call me paranoid, but with facebook now fastly becoming a site I loath and twitter looking as fresh as it did a year ago, I am wondering how long these sites will last and whether the “hot” social networking websites, like “interesting” celebrities will create a cyclical order to social networking websites that are dubbed “cool-hip”, etc.
Just my 2c.
